Chair of the 2024-2028 Rector of Unud Selection Committee Prof. I Gusti Putu Bagus Sukaarjawa explained that in this screening process the five prospective candidates will be filtered into three candidate names which will be taken to the Ministry in Jakarta which will be the benchmark when the Ministry votes on October 3. The screening process took place in an orderly and smooth manner and the results were as announced. Then, within one month, socialization will be carried out for the three candidates, where in the middle of this month there will be a kind of campaign from the three candidates to elements of Udayana University such as student representatives, lecturers, alumni, stakeholders and employees. After that, elections will be held on October 3, 2024.

In the ongoing voting process there were two invalid votes and 12 Senate members were absent. Technically, voting is done by voting in the image on the ballot paper. The number of Senate members present was 74 people and the minimum number for a quorum was 58 people.

Chairman of the Unud Senate Prof. I Gede Mahardika said that in accordance with existing provisions, today is the process of screening potential candidates to become candidates where there are five potential candidates and according to Ministerial Regulation 17 of 2019, we will filter from those five to three. The Senate agreed that the screening process would be through voting and from the voting process we had three people, namely Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana who received 53 votes, Dr. Satriya Wibawa with 6 votes and Dr. Sumerta Miwada with 6 votes so we have got three prospective candidates who will be appointed as Rector candidates which we will then send to the Ministry.

"We will immediately send the documents resulting from this process to the Ministry and at the same time invite the Ministry to hold an election later on October 3 2024. There we will determine who gets the most votes, according to regulations the proportion is 35 percent of the Minister's vote and 65 percent of the Senate vote. Who the person who gets the highest number of votes will be proposed as Rector, who will then be determined by the Minister. The election process will take place in a closed Senate Session attended by those invited by the Senate," said the Chairman of the Senate.

Rector of Unud Prof. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana expressed his gratitude that the screening process for Rector Candidates had been carried out and that its implementation also coincided with a good day, namely Tilem Day. If you look at the presentation of the vision and mission and the selection process, it went smoothly and lasted one round, which is something we should be grateful for. This is just the initial stage, in the future there will be a stage for selecting the Rector involving the Minister's vote. It is also hoped that the election will run smoothly, safely and peacefully.

The hope is for the three Rector candidates who are the best sons of Udayana University, of course whoever is chosen to become Rector is expected to be able to embrace all candidates and those who are not selected can support the elected Rector. It is also hoped that Udayana University can be more solid, without friction. It is also hoped that the elected Rector will be able to consolidate the faculties to invite them together to build Udayana University so that it can progress further.

It is hoped that the figure of the future Rector will be humanist, able to embrace and, most importantly, be able to communicate well, with the academic community, including lecturers, staff and students, all of whom have the same important role. Then you can also establish networking with external parties, especially in Bali, with all existing stakeholders such as Forkompinda and develop it to the national and then international levels.

"I think that's what we have to do if we want Udayana University to progress and have no problems in the future, the point is real communication," said Prof. Ngakan.
